Three Facebook Live Streaming Mistakes Most Entrepreneurs Make… and how to avoid them

Facebook Live Streaming

Every entrepreneur wants to succeed, especially at the start of their journey. The problem is, without the right guidance, most entrepreneurs run into trouble faster than they like to admit. One issue is reaching enough of the right prospects that you can turn into clients.

For some entrepreneurs, online marketing can be a minefield. Where must you been seen, and what should you do? Take for example, Facebook Live Streaming. Should you embrace it? And why?

Luckily for you, here are the top three secrets every entrepreneur needs to know about Facebook Live Streaming so you can succeed too, despite what your competitors might tell you to the contrary.

Secret No. 1: Facebook Live Video Is Exploding

The no.1 thing entrepreneurs need to understand with this secret is Facebook Live is exploding. Not only is it available on smart phones - iPhone and Android - it's recently been released on desktop computers. So you can now reach your audience - for free - without leaving your desktop. Whether you use PC or Mac, it's easy to set up Live Streaming to reach your audience.

As a entrepreneur, here's what this means to you. You can be seen and heard by your prospects and clients. You can supply information that will help them. If you're being seen regularly by your target market you and your services will be 'top of mind' for your prospects. They will associate you as the first person to get in contact with.

You need to understand where Live Streaming is going and to stream live regularly. This secret is key because if you're not taking advantage of Facebook Live, then your competitors surely will!

Secret No. 2: Get Facebook To Promote You For Free

People don't realise quite how much Facebook is invested in Facebook Live. They see that the future for content is more and more video. They want to see YOU creating Facebook Live videos, and are promoting YOUR live videos heavily.

This means that Facebook themselves will promote your Facebook Live videos - via popups on your followers' screens - whenever you go live. This means greater reach for your Facebook Live videos. Greater reach means more of your prospects see your live streams.

But it's not just promotion when you go live. A recent test by Poynter showed a Live video of theirs reached more than 6,000 users for every engagement while their top article post only reached 36. That, as they say, is an astonishing disparity.

Facebook's attitude also means that, should you want to promote your videos, Facebook has attractive rates for promotion. So you reach more people for less.

All this means is that when you make a small effort with Facebook Live, Facebook rewards you disproportionately. And to benefit, all you have to do is go live on Facebook.

Secret No.3: Get Your Message In Front Of New Prospects - On A Medium They Use All The Time!

One of the problems about reaching your target market online is to discover exactly where they hang out. If you don't post your messages to where your market is, your messages will not be seen.

That's why Facebook is vital for entrepreneurs. Almost no matter what your target market, you can guarantee they'll be on Facebook - often multiple times a day. So why not get your message in front of new prospects - on a medium they use all the time!

Entrepreneurs who ignore this fact and don't engage with Facebook are ignoring an effective - and free - medium.

Luckily, with a but of guidance, it's easy to benefit from Facebook Live.

How To Benefit From Facebook Live

You've seen how entrepreneurs need to take action on when it comes to Facebook Live Streaming. With the consequences of ignoring this advice ranging from weeks of wasted effort to throwing tons of money out the window, take the time to educate yourself on the proper methods to use Facebook Live.

The Three Secrets to Success In Profiting From Online Training

Every trainer wants to succeed, especially at the start of their online training journey. The problem is, without the right guidance, most trainers run into trouble faster than they like to admit.

Luckily for you, here are the Top Three Secrets every trainer needs to know about how to profit from online training so you can succeed too.

Read on to discover them …

Secret No.1: How To Get Great Ideas For Your Online Training

Why Is This Important?

Every trainer must have seen falling attendance figures in their live trainings. Simply fewer and fewer people are attending live courses. It’s not just you – the big live trainers in self-development are seeing this too. It’s getting harder and harder to get bums on seats.

It can be a huge risk to trainers to book a hotel training room only to find that the low numbers that sign up are not economically viable. And we all know that the public perception of cancelling a training doesn’t work wonders for your reputation.

Here's How Top Trainers Put This Into Action

The truth is that the training market hasn’t gone away. Far from it. But it’s shifted to a more convenient medium. Most people have access to fast broadband these days. And they can consume training from the comfort of their homes instead of paying for travel, overnight hotel rooms and often over-priced food.

They can thus get the training they need without paying through the nose – and in a more convenient location – their home!

Online Is Different

The bottom line is that online training is a bit different from live, in person training. There are different things to concentrate on. What works in person doesn’t always work online. The logistics are different – what you need to get in place before the training is different.

But how do you know what to focus on? The first step is to pick training ideas that your market wants that will work online. If you’re an experienced trainer you probably have successful courses – but if you’re starting out, you may not.

All courses start with an idea – and developing that idea into delivering the skills, knowledge and attitudes that your target market needs and wants. So start there.

Secret No.2: How To Design Your Online Training

So you have your idea for your new online training, and it’s a topic that your market wants. So what is the next step? The next step is to design your online training course.

Why Is This Important?

Trainers need to understand this secret is key because you can’t just expect a training course designed for live, in-person delivery - however good - just to work online without adapting it.

Online Training Design Is Vital

So the next step is to design your training specifically for online delivery. The dynamics of an online training are also different, and your training design needs to accommodate this.

For one thing, online delivery itself can initially be a bit alien to trainers used to immediate feedback from the room. It can take some getting used to. You can feel you’re talking into a void, and, if you tend to rely on instant feedback, then you won’t get that online.

Trainers need to understand the interaction with your audience is quite different. For example – asking questions - you have to build this in to your training design. Getting questions answered in online training is not as spontaneous as someone putting up their hand to ask a question.  So you may choose to have a Q&A session – or sessions.

So your Q&A session – if you’re having one - has to be planned, with a place for your attendees to leave their questions. You may need time to process those questions, or you may decide to answer them off the cuff.

Understand The Constraints of Online Training

The big a-ha with this secret is adapting your material to the online world is to understand its pros and cons to a trainer. You need to know what works well online – and what doesn’t! And then to design your course so that it works within those constraints.

Secret No.3: How To Implement Your Training Online

Have The Right Tools

The key idea with this secret is having the right tools. You need a way that your audience can see your slides (assuming you’re using slides) and hear you clearly. This is not necessarily a one size fits all – there are several ways to deliver your course online. The length of your course is one – you may choose different online tools for a series of ten-minute videos as opposed to a more structured two-day training, for example.

As a Trainer, Here's What This Means To You

The implementation factors to consider are cost, convenience and your familiarity with tools like PowerPoint or the Google Drive equivalent.

Obviously to deliver online you will need access to a PC or Mac, a broadband line and a mic or headset.

Get Implementation Advice & Help

The most important thing to understand about implementing a course online is that you don’t have to do it all yourself. The technology moves pretty fast, and it can be hard to keep up with it. Suppliers go bust and other, newer  technologies emerge.

While you can as a trainer, come up with training ideas and design your course for online delivery, I would recommend getting up to date advice in how to implement it online.

The Three Biggest Mistakes Entrepreneurs Make Online

Do you know the three biggest mistakes entrepreneurs make online that kill their results stone dead?

And if you'd prefer to get more hot leads and avoid the mistakes that stop most entrepreneurs in their tracks read this article immediately.

That’s because the three most common mistakes and what to do instead are inside this article.

These are mistakes I see entrepreneurs making time and again. And that's a shame when it would be so easy just to make tiny changes in what you do and get more clients to use your services.

Mistake No.1: Not Reaching Out To Your Audience Effectively

The first mistake is to not reach out to your audience effectively. To not use the communications channels your audience has easy - and free - access to.

These could be of course be offline locations – meeting places, regular events and networking meetings, but are increasingly online forums and social media platforms.

Why Is It a Mistake?

This is a mistake because it’s wasting an opportunity you have in front of you to easily get your messages in front of prospects. Prospects who need your services.

People spend an increasing amount of time online, and have their interests met by many online groups and forums. These are prime targets for your offerings. But if you're not visible there, your prospects will use one of your competitors.

What Should You Do Instead?

You can - and should - use the established online communications channels that your target market uses. In order to do this, you need to do a few things first.

  1. Identify your target market clearly
  2. Find out where they hang out
  3. Go there and lurk – see what questions they are asking
  4. Post material interesting to them. Answer their questions. Be helpful.

The key thing is to add value first - so people can see that you're helpful. But you also want to encourage them to spend more time with you.

So when posting, make sure your posts always encourage them to visit your blog, landing page or sales page. It’s the first step to become known – then you want to help them more via your paid services.

Mistake No.2: Not Consistently Delivering What Your Market Needs

I’m making the assumption that you already deliver something that a defined market – or market segment needs. That your product or service is of high quality and that your market benefits from having it.

If this is not the case, then work out what your market needs, and supply that. You don’t have to supply services for all their needs. But you do need to have a solution that consistently meets their needs.

What Is The Mistake?

The mistake here is to not appreciate what your market needs. Sometimes it’s as simple as not actually asking then. The emphasis of your service may be wrong – it may not deliver what they actually WANT.

Why Is It a Mistake?

If you don’t supply what they want, they are not going to buy. You're going to lose out to your competitors.

What Should You Do Instead?

Get into the habit of asking your prospects what they want. You have to know their wants and needs better than they do. And the only way to do this, if you’re not a member of your target market yourself, is to ask them.

Obviously you can use FAQ pages posted online as a starting point. And by hanging out in groups you’ll see the questions that members post. Then you’ll begin to see patterns.

Then you might like to ask them via the groups that they’re in. You can post a question, or invite them to complete a short survey. You can use the free questionnaire tool on Google Drive for this – it’s easy to use, and it’s free.

Mistake No.3: Not Being 'Top Of Mind' For Your Target Audience

You want to be the first person members of your target market think of. You NEED to be the name on the tip of their tongue. Their first logical port of call – what marketers call the ‘Top of Mind’ concept.

This is why Lever Brothers and Proctor & Gamble spend so much on brand advertising. It’s so that when you enter a supermarket and need to buy, say shampoo, you have a brand name clearly in mind. When you win the battle for your prospects’ minds they will look for your product or service when they need to buy.

So What Is The Mistake Here?

The mistake is to not using the communication channels open to you to tell your market about the benefits of your service.

This is a mistake because when members of your target market decide they need services that you provide, if they don’t know why they should buy from YOU, then their money will go elsewhere.

What Should You Do Instead?

Instead of not being 'top of mind' for your target audience, you should be visible both online on forums AND on your own website. Your blog should be regularly updated with material useful to your target market.

Of course, you must also clearly offer your services - and to do this you'll need a sales letter or sales video.
